Three Gifts that Won’t Cost You a Dime
The gift giving season is upon us and naturally we think of the costs of giving gifts. I want to encourage you to give three gifts during this Christmas time and in 2008 that won’t cost you anything, but will pay great dividends.
One of the greatest “presents” you can give is your “presence.”
It is such a rarity these days, whether it is in the workplace or our personal lives to be totally present. It’s a good way to intrinsically validate someone. At this time of the year there are alot of people in our lives that would just love to have the gift of your “presence.” Businesses and organizations, likewise, would be much more successful if you are totally present and in the now with customers, clients, employees, co-workers, bosses and all of those you come in contact with. Parents and children would also have more bonding if they practiced the lost art of being totally present while in each others presence. It is a gift that is free, just show up.
The gift of “passion” is also a wonderful present. Passion says I get to, want to and choose to. If all of us would work and live our lives with passion in whatever role we are in, because we “get to,” “choose to,” “want to,” it would have a tremendous positive impact in our world.
The gift of “Significance” versus “Success” is one that would provide success abundantly. Success is when you add value to yourself, Significance is when you add value to others. Striving to be significant, by adding value to others, will help you to have more success than you can imagine. To elevate others is to elevate ouselves, what a wonderful gift that doesn’t cost us a dime and is doable.
These three gifts require a mindset, no money, and yet adds more enrichment to others and at the same time enriches our lives as well. Let’s make “2008 great” by embracing this mindset of “presence,” “passion,” and “significance.”
